About Rick Rancitelli

Early on, I was attracted to nature’s light and the shapes it created on the wall and floor in my bedroom as it flowed in from the outdoors. It created patterns, no two the same as the ambient flood changed from second to second. This shaped how I see and draw with light, and it’s effect on the 2 dimensional picture plane, being my primary subject today.

In 1968, an exhibition of drawings by Aubrey Bearsdley came to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His work was miraculous and allowed a glimpse of ink’s capabilities. It was a revelation to me and became my medium of choice. I attended Parsons School of Design and Rutgers University.

Among the exhibitions I’ve been included in are Works on Paper at Fells Point, The Art National at Nabisco’s corporate headquarters in East Hanover and The Salmagundi Club non-member exhibition in Manhattan (prize winner). My work hangs in a number of private collections here in the Garden State and across the country.
